August 19 Luncheon

Charity will be Buddy Readers

Date:        Wednesday, August 19th

Where:     West Village Dining Room at The Villages at Unity, 1471 Long Pond Rd, Rochester, NY 14626

Parking assistance will be provided. Please follow the event signs. Shuttle buses will take drivers to the door, and the dining room is very near the entrance.

Cost:   $25

Time:   11:00. Meeting begins at 11:30am, Lunch at 12

Menu: Deli Buffet with Tossed green salad, Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef, Tuna Provolone, Cheddar and Swiss cheese, Rolls, Pasta salad and chips
Coffee, tea, water, soda and cookies
 

August Charity: Buddy Readers is a ministry of Spiritus Christi Church. The program pairs adult volunteers with young readers to instill a love of reading. It supports students in grades 2 through 4 in the Rochester City School District in a one-to-one setting from October to May through various activities. Each student receives a holiday book and an end-of-the-year book to enjoy over vacation and for years to come.

Wish List:  Books suitable for grades 2–4 that show diversity in people and subjects, word-related games to help build reading skills in a fun way and more volunteers!  If desired, make checks payable to Spiritus Christi Church and write “Buddy Readers” on the memo line.  Susan Weiss, Buddy Readers Ministry Leader, will join us at our lunch.

September 16th Luncheon at Spinelli’s with donation boards. 

Charities will be Salem Nutrition Center, Lap Robes for Veterans, Teresa House, Margaret House

Angels of Mercy Dress a Girl

Dates: September 15th and November 17th 1:00pm-4:00pm

(you do not need to attend both dates)

Location: Irondequoit Library 1290 Titus Ave, Rochester 14617

Bring your sewing machine to help make dresses for little girls in the U.S. and around the world. If you don’t sew, you can help by ironing labels, folding dresses, and making stuffed animals.
